The A483 Newtown to Crossgates

This is a superb road in…..yes you guessed it Wales.

The best way to approach it is from the Newtown end and travel South towards Llandrindod Wells. Newtown is situated on the A489. It starts with a good series of tight hairpins and good cross country views for those of us that care to look !

In the early stages on a clear day you can see the biggest wind farm I have ever seen (on the right from this direction). It gradually opens to an excellent surface and high speed sections all the way to the Crossgates roundabout some 23 miles away where there is a good café and Mecca for bikers on a summers day.

Not surprisingly this road is heavily used by bikers in the summer so it would be reasonable to expect a bit of attention from the local boys in blue. So long as you keep your eyes peeled for any suspiciously large bushes with epaulettes and hairdryers you should be OK !
