The A537 Macclesfield to Buxton
"Cat and Fiddle Pass"

This map lies because this pass is anything but open and sweeping. If you fancy a challenge then this is the place for you (and about a thousand other loonies on any Sunday). No doubt about this one ... it'll test your corning abilities, I don't think there's a single straight bit! The most dangerous thing about this road at the weekend is other bikers, it really is the mainland version of Isle of Man. Perhaps thats why it attracts so much attention from the local traffic police who have an unmarked camera bike working overtime up there (I won't give you the details of it coz you won't need them!!). If you are lucky enough to get up there mid week it is much better but there is the ever present hazard of the sheep which are not fenced in at all!! At the peak is the Cat and Fiddle Pub, a mini "Waterman" on a Sunday ... if you get that far!! The A515 takes you back to Ashbourne and Lichfield but is heavily monitored for speed _ YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Don't trust any bike which is bristling with aerials whose rider has size 12 feet and a Sam Browne (maybe!)
