IAM Surety Renewal Quote LOL
« on: January 06, 2015, 06:16:15 PM »
Well I though after they got all the negative feedback at last years IAM AGM they may have changed their ways.. no chance !
My 2014 insurance was 160, the renewal quote 280  :-\ :-\
No doubt after haggling it will come down to 140 ish the same as other insurance quotes.

 8) Just fallen off my chair in shock.
Contrary to most reports on Surety I've just added my vstrom to my other bikes policy...
Other bike expires Sept. - 8 months cover has cost me 28.

Challenged low price, challenged different no claims (less on addition)

Preparing for the shock in September.

Yeah but we haven't been talking about that ??  It only cost me 70 to add my Triumph to my Ducati policy.

I have just had a nice discount from Surety for being an observer, also taking into account the excess was only 350 the overall price was good (most companies want an enormous excess).

LOL.. I'm sure I will get a good quote from them eventually to save me changing insurance companies.

After the initial quote of 280, incredible. Oh well, its all sorted for another year.

Make sure you dont make any adjustments coz they will recover there money that way. Cheap is rarely good unless you dont need it. >:(

I know this one has been off the radar for a while but I've  been through the renewal process  a couple of times recently and despite being one of the people knocking Surety, I have now changed my opinion, so it's only fair i voice that new opinion too!
There are a couple of things about the IAM Surety cover which I think are worthy of note.
I have been in the "just go to the lowest" group for one policy for a year and to be honest until renewal it made no real difference. The new company's renewal figure was well up on last year so after a price comparison I've renewed again with Surety, and I'm having a change of heart.
Firstly Surety are not great at renewal figures, but if you go back to them with proof of a better quote they will nearly always match or beat it. OK its a pain sending over screen shots or scans of other offers, but its also as much hassle moving companies. Proof of no claims bonus etc.
Second, they include Class 1 Business cover as standard, which covers you as an Observer. If you ask for this level of cover with other companies the price invariably goes up.
I now use Surety for both my bikes and the car. I have had 1 theft claim from the car and it was handled well and dealt with promptly even over the Christmas / New Year Holidays.
I always check my renewal quotes and, yes,  I can usually find a better one. Then they match it. It used to annoy me that they couldn't just do the same as I did, but they can't apparently, so now I just live with it. I takes half an hour at tops to check and send a quote and I do get peace of mind knowing from experience they are helpful when you need them most, claim time!
I know some of you will say it doesn't work for you, and maybe it doesn't but I'd always give them a chance to beat a renewal quote. A couple of phone calls and/or emails can save considerable cash which you can spend on something a bit more exciting than insurance.
And before you ask, no, I'm not on a commission!
