Stolen BMW R NineT- Bennetts / Zenith Insurance
« on: March 23, 2017, 05:30:54 PM »
My beloved , 1 year old, BMW R NineT was stolen on 19th Feb from outside GO Outdoor in Erdington, on a busy Sunday afternoon. I only left it for 10 mins and the shop CCTV caught the thieves, who appeared to use a key (or something equally quick) to start the bike and ride off.

Anyway, I'm insured via Bennetts with Zenith Insurance. Having reported the theft to the police immediately I informed Bennetts first thing on the Monday, the day after the theft. Zenith have engaged a specialist investigation company called ExamWorks. To cut a long story short, I'm still no closer to getting a decision from the insurers, let alone a pay out, well over a month later. Between the companies they've lost forms that I've submitted and generally been disorganised. ExamWorks has recently assigned a second investigator to my 'case' and only just started to request the details from the Police ("we'll sent the request in a few days when our Finance Department have raised a cheque"). The lead-time on the Police report is 40 days. So it's looking like 2-3 months before I'm likely to hear back and be able to get on the road with a replacement bike. Really frustrating and I'm missing the spring weather! This is the first time in forty years of motoring that I've ever had to claim for theft; so I don't think I can be on any kind of 'blacklist'. Not impressed by Bennetts / Zenith

Update - My claim still hasn't been settled after 3 months. Bennetts tell me that it may take up to 6 months! The Insurance company (Zenith ) are blaming the investigation company (ExamWorks) - I've chased them, yet again, today. :(

Yay - finally got a cheque from the insurance company today! Pretty much four months to the day since the bike was stolen. The amount they gave me was reasonable, though didn't get close to covering the extras that I'd fitted to the bike and the 1K excess chopped a big chunk off too. Good to have things resolved at last though.
